Welcome from the Editors

It is hard to believe Social Marketing Quarterly has been publishing our collective work for almost 17 years. Through SMQ, we have shared valuable research, discussed theories, learned from each other’s successes (and at times, failures), and sparked rich debate with a variety of commentary from experts around the globe. It has been our goal to provide an outlet for our community to connect with one another, and looking into 2011 we are making some enhancements to continue to build upon this goal.

Over the past few months, we’ve been working to improve your online experience. One of the most exciting changes is the addition of online access for all subscribers. Your subscription now allows you to access current and back articles, a service that was previously limited to institutional members. We hope you will log on and take a look at the extensive archive of articles that are now available.

When we designed this site, our idea was to create a town center, which continues to bring our community together. When visiting socialmarketingquarterly.com, you will now be able to search our database of all published works, browse complete articles for volumes three through 7, and read expert commentary in our “Market Mavens” blog. In addition, we’ve also added a new forum feature. We are excited to have partnered with the administrators of the social marketing listserv to bring you this improved way to connect and share. When building this forum, we kept your ideas and suggestions in mind. Some key highlights of the forum include:

  • The ability to subscribe and unsubscribe at any time
  • Pick and choose which topics in which you wish to receive updates
  • Manage the volume of messages being sent to your inbox with a digest option
  • Send replies to specific discussion threads directly from your e-mail inbox or from the forum home pages
  • Archive discussions in the forum for everyone's future reference

SMQ continues to be the premiere scholarly, internationally circulated journal covers theoretical, research and practical issues confronting social marketers. We have made improvements to grow the quality of our published work with the addition of two, new Associate Editors, Ronne Ostby and François Lagarde. Both bring a unique perspective to the social marketing community, and we are confident that our authors will benefit greatly from their advice and experience.

Join us, talk with us, and engage with us as we continue to grow and improve. Our community of readers and authors have been the driving force behind the success of SMQ. We hope you will continue sharing your praises, concerns, suggestions, and ideas- the future of the journal depends on your voice. We thank you for a wonderful 17 years, and look forward to many more.
